IN SOCIALIST PARADISE (IT NEVER RAINS) (2025)

The film explores the chilling impact of dictatorship-era propaganda in Albania, where the state's use of art as a tool of control permeated not only public spaces but also the most intimate aspects of personal life. Filmmaker Ermela Teli delves into how state-sponsored propaganda in art shaped beliefs, relationships, and self-perception, blurring the lines between official narratives and personal expression. Through her personal story as well, Teli reveals that even in private moments, such as personal filming, individuals were unknowingly influenced by the same ideological forces. By interweaving personal reflections with the broader cultural landscape, the film illuminates how propaganda was not just a political tool, but a psychological force that permeated both public art and private lives, leaving long-lasting effects on individual identity and freedom.

ALPE-ADRIA UNDERGROUND (2024)

Between 2013 and 2023, Slovenian Cinematheque preserved and digitized 179 short films created on a tiny stretch of land between the Alps and the Adriatic Sea in the period of socialism (1945-1991), but mostly outside the prevailing state production. Today, we belatedly recognize these films as experimental and as an important, innovative part of the Slovenian film heritage, visible again for the first time after decades. The production of Alpe-Adria Underground! has radically accelerated efforts to preserve, digitize and restore this segment of Slovenian cinema.
